Traction sanding valves: In case of an emergency stop, the sander sprays sand on the track in order to increase friction between the track and the wheel. MAC Valves are resistant against contamination and have a consistent response time, within a wide temperature range.

Main brakes and parking brakes: Air brakes on trains, made up of several valves acting as a safety valve, will make sure the wheels do not start slipping when the train speeds up and slows down. MAC Valves has solutions out in the field for this application. The compressors for the brakes can be isolated against vibrations and shocks using ITT Enidine wire ropes, offering a very high durability and corrosion protection.

Lubrication of the wheel sets: MAC Valves have solutions for the lubrication of wheel sets, but also have a look at our broad range of fluid valves.

Air suspension: Together with it's partners Firestone and MAC Valves, LDA can offer drop in replacements for the air suspension systems on public transport equipment. Also the tilting mechanism benefits from quality air springs and pneumatical valves.

Couplers:  Pneumatic couplings are a perfect application for MAC Valves. The electrical side is taken care of by Molex Westec connectors. Jarret shock absorbers from ITT Enidine are used as emergency shock absorber on the technical bar and couplers of older passenger trains.

Door controls: For pneumatically operated doors in all forms of public transportation, LDA distributes proven concepts, including MAC Valves pneumatical valves and PHD cylinders. Both MAC Valves and PHD are installed and approved at numerous European and worldwide customers for door actuation and automatic steps. Our cylinders can now be outfitted with the Bimba Intellisense predictive maintenance unit, which predicts when a cylinder is about to breakdown. This is especially interesting in highly critical applications to avoid a breakdown when the cylinder is needed the most.

Contactors: Contactors in both diesel and electric locomotives need to be steered pneumatically due to the high forces that are required. MAC Valves offers solutions resulting in a high repeatability and long life.

Toilet operations: Simplify the maintenance operations connected to the vacuum toilets by using MAC Valves for the water tank pressurization, water cleaning, vacuum generation, opening and closing and the flush sequence control. MAC Valves are universal, pressure independent valves, and perform as well under pressure as in a vacuum. 

Cooling systems: To reduce the heat in the engine room and in the engine itself, pneumatically actuated cylinders are used. MAC Valves offers valve solutions for this application and also for pneumatically actuated windscreen wipers and mirrors. Quality cylinders are available from PHD and Bimba.

Electrical cabinets: ITT Enidine ADA rate controls are used in electrical boxes on trains. ITT Enidine also supplies shock absorbers for circuit breakers in various means of public transport systems. ECU's are typically isolated against vibrations with ITT Enidine wire ropes.

Pantographs: MAC Valves proportional pressure controllers and Firestone air springs are frequently used in pantographs.

Train horn controls: Train horns are a critical application that need to be continuously operational. MAC Valves is specified at several railway companies worldwide as the "Go to" supplier for pneumatic valves that do not fail.

Assembly and maintenance halls:

LDA and our partner Pronal have developed a safety solution for the assembly and maintenance of public transport equipment. Inflatable pillows cover the open spaces of the working pit below the transport equipment, so there is no danger for the maintenance employees to fall in the pit when moving around the transport equipment.

Similarly, Pronal and LDA have developed a solution for works at the top of the transport equipment. The inflatable safety pillows make sure that no small tools are able to fall in between the transport equipment and the access platform, preventing injuries for the employees at ground level. LDA does not only deliver the inflatable safety pillows, but does the complete pneumatical and electrical setup for easy and quick inflation and deflation of the pillows.

MAC Valves are used in the above pneumatical setup, but MAC Valves can also be used in most other pneumatic applications. LDA, as your pneumatic specialist, also delivers all accessories such as manometers, tubing, pistols, etc.
