7HL – Hazardous Location Proximity Sensor

The Canfield 7HL series is a long-acting proximity sensor developed for detecting piston position on NFPA pushrod cylinders with bore sizes from 2″ to 8″. This sensor is specifically designed for use in hazardous environments where gas, dust or flammable vapors may be present. The 7HL builds on the proven design of the 7000 series with “floating” mounting system, and features CSA certification for explosion safety.

The housing consists of anodized 6061-T6 aluminum and is fully filled with epoxy resin for protection against vibration, shock and ingress of moisture or dust. The sensor features a normally open reed contact that switches at 0-120 V AC/DC, up to a load of 10 W resistive and 0.5 A current. The fast response time (0.5 ms on, 0.1 ms off) makes the sensor suitable for dynamic applications.

The standard 9 ft long SJTOW cable is suitable for heavy-duty use and connects via a ½″ conduit connection. The sensor has a temperature rating of T6 and an operating temperature range of -20 °C to +80 °C. It meets CSA classifications for use in areas with gas, dust and fibers.
