How do you choose the right one? Our specialists are happy to help you with advice and installation. Read on and discover which solution suits you best.
What are solenoid valves?
A solenoid valve is a type of pneumatic valve that is electrically operated by an electromagnet. When the valve’s coil is energized, it generates a magnetic field that moves an internal core (plunger). This opens or closes the valve, allowing compressed air to pass through or blocking it.
Solenoid valves are suitable for automation because they can switch quickly and accurately. They are often used in combination with PLC systems or other electronic controls. Thanks to their construction and fast response time, they are perfect for applications such as production lines, sorting systems, or packaging machines.

At LDA, you will find solenoid valves that are tailor-made for every system. With our solutions from Rotork and MAC Valves that fit perfectly within these industrial environments.
There are various types of solenoid valves:
- Direct acting: suitable for low flow rates and pressures.
- Indirect acting (servo-controlled): uses a small amount of air to control a larger flow.
- Mixed acting: combines the properties of both for broader applications.
Curious to find out which type is best suited to your process? Our specialists will be happy to advise you on the options available, for example through our MAC Valves or API solutions.
How to Install a solenoid valve?
Connecting a solenoid valve requires attention to both the electrical and pneumatic aspects. Want to be sure of a correct and safe connection? LDA can do this for you. Our specialists will ensure professional installation, tailored to your application and system requirements.
What is a proportional pressure control valve?
A proportional pressure regulator or proportional valve (PPC) accurately and continuously regulates the pressure of compressed air based on an electrical signal. Whereas a conventional pressure regulator is limited to a fixed pressure, this valve offers dynamic adjustment depending on the signal received. That is why the PPC from MAC valves is the solution, as this valve can receive signals from a PLC or a control system. The valve converts the electrical signal into a mechanical movement via a coil or actuator.

This changes the flow opening and thus the air pressure proportionally. This technology ensures precise pressure control. This is crucial in sectors where repeatability and accurate process control are essential, such as automation, medical technology, packaging, and robotics.
What is a check valve?
A check valve, non-return valve, or backflow preventer is a valve that ensures that a supply such as air, water, gas, or oil can only flow in one direction. It prevents liquid or gas from returning into the system. This prevents damage, contamination, or pressure loss.
The operating principle of a check valve is simple but effective. When the medium flows in the correct direction, the valve opens automatically due to the pressure exerted on the mechanism. If you try to flow the medium in the opposite direction, the valve closes immediately thanks to a spring or gravity. This makes backflow impossible without the need for external control.
Check valves are used in many sectors. In water supply systems, they protect against contamination of drinking water. In pump systems, they prevent fluid from flowing back when the pump is switched off. They also maintain pressure and protect components in hydraulic and pneumatic installations.
What Are Liquid valves?
These are valves designed to allow liquids to pass through. The use of membranes allows liquids such as water, cleaning agents, oil, or glue to pass through effortlessly. Liquid valves also have no dead space where dirt and bacteria can accumulate. This makes the valves durable and hygienic solutions. They are available in various metals and plastics.
The liquid valves we supply at LDA are based on the proven technology of the MAC Bullet Valve® or Spartan. This innovation ensures extremely fast, accurate, and repeatable switching times. Spartan Scientific valves are different from standard solutions. Do you have heavy industrial applications? Then you can rest assured with LDA, because Spartan has more than 30 years of experience in designing and manufacturing industrial solenoid valves with a focus on direct-acting and media-separated valves.
What sets these valves apart:
- They are designed for challenging markets such as chemical processing, food and beverage, energy, oil and gas, mobility, and more.
- Media-separated designs keep the medium separate from critical components, which is ideal for aggressive or contaminated media.
- Customized solutions for critical applications.
